The Premier League might just have handed the title to Liverpool

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has admitted that he would prefer Manchester City to win the Premier League title ahead of Liverpool.

Earlier this month, Guardiola revealed he was looking to bring three to four players for the 2019/20 season, one of which is a midfielder.

Now, it's time that glowing adulation of van Dijk is eased a little and the praise is aimed exclusively at Mane, who has been the one reason that Liverpool remain in with a chance of claiming Premier League glory, and the African sensation can be the player to try and launch them to league success.

Liverpool are now two points ahead of Pep Guardiola's men on the table, although the champions have a game in hand.

As quoted by Goal, the Spaniard said: "I don't see just the Europa League as the only way of being in the Champions League because Chelsea's place is not to be sixth in the Premier League so I can not accept this".

"I think they've got a better squad, I think they've got better depth in their squad than Liverpool maybe have".

The rivalry between Liverpool and United, which was voted as the biggest in British football, remains well and truly alive.

Will Liverpool win the league this season?

"We took so much stick off Liverpool in the years leading up to '93 before we won that first title after 26 years", Pallister told Premier League Productions.

As a former Manchester United player, Ferdinand admitted that it was hard to pick between the two sides due to his allegiances, but he ultimately chose City over Liverpool.

History shows that teams going for so many trophies at the back end of the season tend to stumble at some point and even though Liverpool may need to win their remaining seven Premier League matches to have a chance of being champions, that finishing line is drawing ever closer now.
