Steve Kerr Tries To Brush Off Comment About Draymond Green

A nadir came Sunday night, when Golden State fell to the Suns for the first time since November 9, 2014, snapping the NBA's longest active winning streak against one team at 18.

The Warriors remain the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference by a game and a half over Denver.

"We did have a good game going", he said, referring to building a 27-11 lead over Phoenix in the first nine minutes. Kerr appeared to be venting his frustration with his star forward.

Asked on Monday if he had spoken to Green following his reported remarks, Kerr said: "That's private".

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr on Monday didn't necessarily agree with what Klay Thompson had to say the night before about the lack of crowd noise inside Oracle Arena in the team's loss to the Phoenix Suns. Instead, Kerr offered some clarity on the controversy: "What I said was, "I beg to differ with Draymond's approach.' Those were my exact words". I don't know how somebody misconstrued that".

"When you go through the adversity, it makes things that much sweeter at the end", Kerr said.

"It's 2019", he said.

"George Orwell was right", Kerr reflected. "It's just that everything is on camera and lip-read, even when it's the wrong interpretation". He wrote 1984. I think the title should have been like 2012 or so. It's modern life. Everything is recorded.

Though Kerr shed no light on the precise source of his exasperation, league sources indicated at least part of it was related to Green and other Warriors making it a habit to question, sometimes aggressively, calls by officials. We all feel it. We've got to build better habits. "Then to so quickly get off track one game later, that's very frustrating".

"We've got to build some momentum". We've got to stay connected emotionally.

As to Thompson's comments about the fans lackluster support, Kerr said the fans have "no obligation" to cheer.

"If you look historically at any team trying to win multiple titles in a row, get to the finals year after year, there's a different vibe", Kerr said.
