Steam Link Anywhere update allows you to stream games on any PC

Valve extend Steam Link out of the home and networking API to all developers

This means you can play your Steam games on a PC not tied to your network.

The feature is now in beta and requires a few caveats, but it's still really exciting.

Assuming you've got all that covered, you'll see an "Other Computer" option on the screen when searching for computers to connect to via Steam Link.

The full list includes virtually any reasonably modern Android-based mobile device with the Steam Link beta app installed and any non-primary computer with Steam downloaded (you won't have to install your games to play). To install it you go into the settings of the app and change the setting within the "Beta Participation" menu item to "Steam Beta Update". The new Steam Link Anywhere extends the Steam Link functionality, while a sockets API makes it easier for developers to offer secure connections.

Update: Dec. 20, 2018 - Valve is no longer selling the Steam Link hardware, but it will continue to update and support the Steam Link app going forward.

Valve's Steam Link hardware might be dead, but Steam Link as a service is getting a pretty major upgrade. You should be able to pick a game and then stream it to your Android device as if you were on the same network as your host PC.

The experience of accessing the pride of your AAA collection will of course depend heavily on how high the bandwidth is on both your PC, and on the device you intend to stream from. This should (in theory) lighten the cost load for midsize and small developers, making it possible for them to host multiplayer games without having to worry about some of the big network pains, like latency, on a far-less-than AAA budget.
