This Is How the Internet Is Reacting to the Cancellation of ‘One Day at a Time’

Despite the fandom's best effort, it looks like Netflix has officially cancelled their inclusive sitcom One Day at a Time. Brooklyn Nine-Nine was quickly saved by NBC, so could the same thing happen for ODAAT? After Netflix announced the show would not get a fourth season, Morenoa posted a statement on Twitter.

Meanwhile, thanks to numerous cast and crew members behind One Day at a Time, including none other than Norman Lear, the #SaveODAAT hashtag took off. Miranda noticed and did what he could to propel it along. News has learned that Sony is shopping the series around to other homes, so hope is not dead yet.

Would you have a problem watching One Day at a Time on another network if Netflix owned the first three seasons? A newly-single mom and military veteran (Justina Machado) journeys through the triumphs and tribulations that come with raising two strong-willed, mega-millennial children (Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz), all the while enlisting the "help" of her old-school mother (Rita Moreno) and her building manager-turned-invaluable confidante (Todd Grinnell). "You filled this show with so much heart and warmth and love, it truly felt like home". Will One Day at a Time be saved?

A new version of the classic '80s show with the same name, One Day at a Time followed the life and struggles of a Cuban-American family and was notable for being super queer inclusive.

The first three seasons of the series are now streaming, with Season 3 featuring new characters including Gloria Estefan as Mirtha, Danny Pino as Tito along with Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Stephanie Beatriz and Melissa Fumero as Pilar and Estrellita. Thank you to our writers & crew & guest cast. In a statement, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos said, "This was a very hard decision and we're thankful to all the fans who've supported the series, our partners at Sony, and all the critics who embraced it. While it's disappointing that more viewers didn't discover One Day at a Time, I believe the series will stand the test of time".
