Investigation involving Chiefs WR Hill underway

Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill is under investigation for alleged battery in an incident that lists a juvenile as the victim, according to a Overland Park Police report obtained Friday by The Kansas City Star. According to Overland Park police, the case was closed three days later when prosecution was declined.

Hill has not been charged with a crime.

"The club is aware of the investigation involving Tyreek Hill", the team said in a statement.

One source provided some details about the incident, saying that the victim is actually Hill's 3-year-old son, and it is believed he actually suffered a broken arm. The report is dated Thursday but it is not clear when the incident occurred. "We'll have no further comment at this time".

Hill, 25, has a history of violence and abuse.

The Chiefs said at the time they had vetted Hill and were comfortable with their decision, and they put safeguards that included counseling and other checks they hoped would keep Hill on the right path.

Chiefs' Hill under investigation for alleged battery incident

Hill pleaded guilty in 2015 to domestic assault and battery by strangulation after punching and choking Espinal, who was then eight weeks pregnant with their son, on December 11, 2014.

Looks like the Kansas City Chiefs could be on the verge of losing another big name player from their potent offense. That would surpass the contract for Odell Beckham Jr., who became the highest-paid wide receiver in National Football League history when he signed a five-year, $90 million extension with the New York Giants in August 2018. Espinal was eight weeks pregnant with their son at the time.

Following the incident with Espinal, Hill went to therapy and went to counseling for anger management.

He was taken in the third round by the Chiefs in the 2016 NFL Draft.

He completed probation in 2018 and his conviction was dismissed.
