Far-Right Australian Politician Fraser Anning Egged By Teen

The moment Fraser Anning was hit with the egg

The footage, shared widely on social media, showed Senator Fraser Anning being approached from behind at a political event on Saturday, before having an egg cracked on the back of his head.

Anning was giving an interview to News 7 Sydney when the boy smashed the egg on the side of his head. The two traded blows until the teen was tackled and pinned by four unknown men.

Victoria Police said the incident is being investigated "in its entirety" including Senator Anning's actions.

However, in the midst of this, Brisbane Senator Fraser Anning generated controversy for his response, which appeared to blame the victims involved.

Queensland A far-right Australian senator had drawn widespread condemnation for blaming "Muslim migration" for the New Zealand mosque massacres that left at least 49 people dead.

Lawmakers within Australia's conservative government had been quarreling in recent weeks over whether the firebrand commentator should be allowed to tour Australia this year.

The senator lashed out at the boy punching him in the face before attempting to hit him again as by-standers stepped in to restrain him.

Morrison called his comments "disgusting" and that they have "no place in Australia".

"Egg Boy takes a punch like a champ then gets choked in a headlock", said one commentator on Twitter.

"I think the full force of the law should be applied to Senator Anning", Mr Morrison said.

"Those views have no place in Australia, let alone the Australian parliament", Prime Minister Scott Morrison wrote on Twitter.

A change.org petition calling for Mr Anning's expulsion from parliament has amassed about 250,000 signatures. Aiming to raise $2,000 for him to pay any potential legal fees and "buy more eggs", it had eclipsed $5,000 by 11:00 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time Saturday morning.

"What I said was that a terribly unfortunate thing, a tragedy, but it's going to be eventually accepted or expected that these sort of things happen".

Labor frontbencher Tony Burke described Senator Anning's comments as "hate speech", and told the ABC "the normalisation of bigotry is something that is not only confined to him".

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has also revealed she received a copy of the manifesto written by Friday's alleged mass murderer just minutes before the attacks in Christchurch began.
