Earl Thomas Agrees To Four-Year, $55M Deal With Ravens

Veteran safety Earl Thomas has agreed to a four-year deal with the Ravens, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday. I love when a franchise continues a rich tradition of greatness at a position.

On Wednesday, despite his rocky tenure with the Seahawks, Thomas wrote on Twitter: "Thank you Seattle for the love and memories that my family and I will never forget".

For those who have been waiting for the Cowboys to adopt and adhere to a philosophy of building a team, this is the latest example of them believing in what they are doing. Baltimore drastically needed a leader like Thomas to bring cohesiveness and intensity to a team with an overwhelming amount of talent.

This number would have led the Ravens defense in interceptions past year as Brandon Carr, Jimmy Smith, and Marlon Humphrey leading the team in interceptions with only two in 2018 (Pro Football Reference).

CBS Sports' Pete Prisco disagreed, giving the deal a "C+" grade. Rather, it's the players reaching 30 and beyond who are generally being left behind in the early sprint of big bucks, massive guarantees and long-term free agent signings, especially if such players have an injury history. Landon Collins led the way, going to the Redskins for six years and $84 million with $44.5 million guaranteed.

Ingram, the 2009 Heisman Trophy victor, carries more mass than Rice did (215 versus 195 pounds).

A two-time 1,000-yard rusher, Ingram's 4.7 yards per carry average over the past five seasons tops all National Football League running backs. No team ran the ball more than Baltimore since Jackson took over for the since-departed Joe Flacco, and Ingram should flourish as a featured back after sharing the load with Alvin Kamara in New Orleans. Now they just need to find some receivers for Jackson to throw to.

If head coach John Harbaugh and company bolster the league's No. 22 passing offense, optimism should grow for the Ravens to progress past the AFC Wild Card next fall.
