Dark Souls creator would 'love to' make a battle royale game

From Software- Battle Royale Live Service Game

From Software has so far mainly made adventures with a single-player focus (even if there have been some online features), but in the future it seems they aren't ruling out making either battle royale or "games as a service" titles (games like Fallout 76 and Anthem).

Dark Souls creator and Sekiro director Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed in a recent interview that he's interested in making a battle royale game.

"There's always the possibility.these games are definitely fun", he told The Telegraph. We definitely have an interest, so this possibility exists.

Now for Sekiro - and nearly like they want to be known as a company that innovative as much as can flesh something out, like the Dark Souls trilogy - we've got another poignant tonal shift.

Does this mean we can expect a battle royal or live service game from Miyazaki and company at some point?

A From Software-style battle royale game would presumably eschew the FPS mechanics of Apex Legends, Blackout, and the like. This is a studio prioritising artistry and experimentation - but so much change at once might make for some sizeable growing pains. Despite having instant fame, the legendary King's Field developer must go from contract to contract to stay afloat.

Imagine this, a battle royale Dark Souls. The studio has crafted some of the most freaky and engaging experiences available for gamers today, and their unique vision will only iterate and push any facet of gaming farther than it was before-whether it be battle royale, MMO, or simply singleplayer-only gameplay. Having one or two primarily live-based games could fortify revenue streams and give the studio more freedom to tackle certain projects.
