Contract details released for DeVante Parker’s 2-year deal with Miami Dolphins

DeVante Parker

The contract is reportedly for $13 million over the two years. The Dolphins released Danny Amendola last week in order to clear $6 million in cap space, Miami was exploring free-agent receivers like Phillip Dorsett and Chris Hogan, but Parker's resigning likely ends those possibilities.

The deal replaces a fifth-year option worth $9.4 million that Miami was not expected to pick up. However, the deal can't technically become official until the start of the new league season on Wednesday.

"It was always DeVante's desire to remain in Miami, and especially with a chance to work with this new coaching staff", Gould said.

Last season Parker had a public dispute with then-head coach Adam Gase, which led to Gase sitting Parker for most of the season. Gase's firing after the season opened the door for Parker's return.

The Dolphins selected Parker in the first round, 14th overall, of the 2015 NFL Draft.

The 26-year-old played 11 games in 2018, finishing with a career-low 309 receiving yards and one touchdown. After missing the playoffs for the 15th time in 17 years, they have begun a reboot and youth movement under Flores and acknowledge it may take several seasons to build a victor.
