Chelsea Clinton Apologizes To Students Who Blame Her For NZ Attack

Mourners pay their respects at a makeshift memorial near the Masjid Al Noor mosque in Christchurch New Zealand Saturday

A video of the verbal fight that broke out shortly after Clinton arrived at the vigil shows a visibly agitated Muslim activist calling Hillary Clinton's daughter out for her past remarks towards the freshman Minnesota Rep.

Chelsea Clinton was confronted by a group of New York University students over her stance on Muslims at a vigil for the New Zealand mosque attacks on Friday.

Clinton apologizes in the video posted to Twitter from the vigil, before the activist confronting her tells her, "This right here is the result of a massacre stoked by people like you and the words that you put out".

"It certainly was never my intention, I do believe words matter, I believe we have to show solidarity", Clinton says. This only angered the students more, and one male shouted: "What does "I'm sorry you feel that way" mean?" "I want you to feel that deep inside, that forty-nine people died because of the rhetoric that you put out there".

The clip immediately went viral and while the person who originally posted then deleted her Twitter account following a backlash, the footage is still available online.

Clinton was among the chorus of critics who condemned Omar's comments.

Clinton has not responded to the harassment yet, but has retweeted others responding to the attack itself, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's (D-NY) erroneous claim that President Donald Trump is enforcing a "Muslim ban" in America.

"Chelsea should be praised for speaking up, Trump wrote". "We should all be condemning anti-Semitism & all forms of hate". "We should expect all elected officials, regardless of party, and all public figures to not traffic in anti-Semitism", Chelsea tweeted about Omar's accusation. "Anyone who doesn't understand that is part of the problem", he tweeted.

It's sickening to see people blame @ChelseaClinton for the NZ attacks because she spoke out against anti-Semitism.

"Frankly it was disgusting to accost a pregnant woman in this way and to tell her that she was directly responsible for a terrorist atrocity that happened thousands of miles away in New Zealand which she has nothing to do with", Maajid said. Trump is "making sure that those folks in his base who probably can't be aligned with him publicly know that I still appreciate the support, I'm with you, I'm over here", Carson said in a CNN interview Friday night.
