'Bohemian Rhapsody' Sequel Is Being 'Heavily Discussed'

Queen music video director: 'Bohemian Rhapsody' sequel being discussed

A representative for Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King has denied a sequel is in development to United States blog Slash Film.

The director of dozens of classic Queen videos says that the band and its management are lining up behind a sequel to the smash hit Freddie Mercury film, "Bohemian Rhapsody".

After big awards haul at the Oscars 2019, Bohemian Rhapsody could land a second movie, according to Queen's music video director Rudi Dolezal.

"I'm sure he plans a sequel that starts with Live Aid", Dolezal says of Beach, adding that the sequel is now "being heavily discussed in the Queen family".

According to Box Office Mojo, the film has grossed over $875 million at the box office, making it the most successful music biopic of all time.

"I'm sure he [Jim Beach] plans a sequel that starts with Live Aid", Dolezal shared.

Lambert has toured with the band and most recently performed Queen's hits "We Will Rock You" and 'We Are The Champions' at the Oscars, a performance which was met with overall acclaim.

"Bohemian Rhapsody", which tells the story of the rise of the band Queen, ends with the band's Live Aid concert performance. Their final collaboration was in 1991, on the video for 'These Are the Days of Our Lives.' Mercury would go on to pass away that year.

It seems unlikely that Queen would take part in a film exploring Mercury's life after live-aid and the distressing six years that lead to his death.

The Powers That Be at 20th Century Fox will know that there's still more story to be told, and may well engineer a movie sequel that chronicles Freddie's twilight years between 1985 and 1991 while still respecting his memory. Last month, the film added four Academy Awards - including "Best Actor" for its star Rami Malek - to its growing pile of awards. The Mercury role was once going to be played by Sacha Baron Cohen.
