Washington Wizards guard John Wall will undergo surgery to fix a ruptured Achilles tendon after slipping and falling in his home and is expected to miss approximately 12 months, the team announced Tuesday.
Wall was recovering from heel surgery he underwent in December and had an infection on the initial incision from the procedure.
Ironically, Wall had said that one reason he elected to have the season-ending heel surgery was to avoid suffering a worse injury. Now, Wall will need another surgery to fix it which will make him miss the next 12 months of action, according to ESPN. They say the tendon ruptured after slipping and falling in his home.
The 28-year-old was already out for the rest of this season after undergoing surgery to remove bone spurs from his left heel as the beginning of January. He's missed more than 70 games due to knee injuries. The devastating news means the five-time All-Star will likely miss a significant portion of the 2019-20 season in addition to being sidelined for the remainder of this season.

Wall was limited to 41 games last season, mostly because of surgery on his left knee.
He averaged 20.7 points and 8.6 assists in 32 games before the injury. But it's a doubly huge blow for the Wizards to be without their point guard for longer than initially expected, as Wall will start a four-year, $170 million max contract next season. Washington now sits at a record of 22-31 and are two games out of a playoff spot.
