UFC 234 'Whittaker Vs. Gastelum' Top Three Fighters To Watch

Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone Offers To Step In And Save The UFC 234 Main Headliner Bout

Behind the first UFC paywall of the year is a middldweight title fight between champion, Robert Whittaker, and challenger, Kelvin Gastelum.

Whittaker was set to defend his title for the first time since becoming interim champion at UFC 213.

With nine consecutive victories under his belt, Whittaker has been a force to be reckoned with in his division.

The 29-year-old is one of, if not, the most active fighters in the organisation with four wins from four fights cruising to a top 10 ranking of six as a result.

"It's the same pressure as any other fight really".

Those plans will now be delayed, given Gastelum is next in line for a title shot before the victor of the Adesanya-Silva showdown. "There may be a little bit of added pressure from the expectations of the crowd and fans and things like that but it's one of those things that comes with the crown", Whittaker told Hindustan Times in an exclusive interview ahead of UFC 234.

"Kelvin is the biggest hurdle in my way, and he's a true test", Whittaker said.

"He's got to be one of the most risky fighters to date for sure. He's got pop, he's fast, he's young, hungry, tough and he's got nothing to lose", he said.

The full UFC 234 fight card is available below.

New Zealand UFC middleweight Israel Adesanya earned his stripes in the octagon a year ago though he is yet to be respected as a fighter in his own right.

Despite being elevated to the main event, Adesanya's bout will remain a three-round fight.

Gastelum isn't a stranger to taking fights in his opponent's backyard. I'm a skinny black guy and I can be the best in the world.
