Ryan Adams Accused Of Sexual Misconduct, Emotional Manipulation By Multiple Women

Ryan Adams accused of sexual misconduct emotional manipulation by multiple women including ex-wife Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore, 34, accused her ex-husband and former music collaborator, Ryan Adams, 44, of "psychologically abusive behavior" when she was still launching her singing career in her 20s, according to The New York Times' account on February 13.

After the article was published on Wednesday, Adams tweeted he's not "perfect" and apologized to those he's hurt "deeply and unreservedly".

Bridgers says that she and Adams "ended up hanging out all night and recording a song together called Killer".

Singer Courtney Jaye was 35 and unsigned when Adams direct messaged her on Twitter in 2013 asking to collaborate on some music.

"He would always tell me, 'You're not a real musician, because you don't play an instrument", Moore said of Adams, who was her music manager. "I want to make music", she said. Their short-lived relationship became emotionally abusive when he frequently demanded to know where she was and threatened suicide if she didn't respond to his texts quickly, she said. The story included allegations of a young female fan who said she had an online relationship with the singer when she was 15 and 16 years old, which included "graphic texting" and a video call in which Adams "exposed himself during phone sex".

She is now married to musician Taylor Goldsmith.

As with "Ava", who was a bassist, Adams offered to use his indie rock standing to help launch the career of female artists.

Phoebe Bridges, a singer-songwriter said they fell into a "whirlwind romance" in 2014 and says he became obsessive and emotionally abusive, demanding to know where she was almost at all times and threatened to take his own life if she didn't answer the phone. Adams denied everything online, saying that he and Moore had different views of their relationship and that he's made mistakes in the past. Approximately seven women accused Mr. Adams of "dangling career opportunities" in exchange for casual sex - the article suggests. Speaking on the accusation of sending flirty messages to a minor, he added, "I would never have inappropriate interactions with someone I thought was underage".

While Fox News' requests to reach Adams were not immediately successful, his lawyer, Andrew Brettler, told the Times that Butterworth's descriptions of Adams as controlling or abusive were inaccurate.

And lastly, tweeted an apology of sorts: "As someone who has always tried to spread joy through my music and my life, hearing that some people believe I caused them pain saddens me greatly". Then I realized how many painkillers I was taking. I am resolved to work to be the best man I can be.

According to The Times, over the past few months, several women left scarred by their relationships with Adams - including Moore - have found one another and formed a support network.

Through his lawyer, he said that he did not have the power to make or break careers and categorically denied the "extremely serious and outlandish accusations" in The Times's reporting.

Following the article's publication, Adams took to Twitter to say he wasn't a ideal man and apologized for hurting anyone's feelings, however, he added the report was inaccurate and much of the supposed "facts" were gross exaggerations and distortions of the truth.

'Some of its details are misrepresented; some are exaggerated; some are outright false. "And I wish everyone compassion, understanding and healing".
