Raptors to sign veteran point guard Jeremy Lin

Jeremy Lin

The second-year backup guard is averaging 10.5 points and 4.6 assists while shooting 36.6 percent from 3-point distance in 51 appearances with the Raptors this season. Lin has never advanced beyond the first round of the playoffs.

Lin was enjoying a dazzling breakout season in NY in 2011-12 when he brought his "Linsanity" road show to Toronto, draining a three-point dagger at the buzzer to lift the Knicks 90-87 over the Raptors.

The score was tied when Gasol, playing his second game for the Raptors after being acquired in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, scored seven of Toronto's first nine points of the fourth quarter as Toronto took a 101-94 lead.

Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet will miss at least three weeks with a left thumb injury, the team says.

The Toronto Raptors are reportedly getting one of the top targets on the buyout market.

Nets coach Kenny Atkinson, who coached Lin in the past, was impressed by the Lin pickup. Also, Lin brings playmaking ability and should be able to fit in Nick Nurse's offence. Everyone competes in this league.

The Raptors entered Monday with a 41-16 record and second place in the Eastern Conference behind only NBA-leading Milwaukee. Joe Harris scored 24 points and made a career-best seven three-pointers, but the Nets lost for the fifth time in six games. He has been part of three previous playoff runs, in 2013 and 2014 with Houston and in 2016 with Charlotte.
