Microsoft is making Windows 10's error messages a little less annoying

Something Happened: Windows Setup Error Messages Will Finally Be Useful (Maybe)

"For Lumia 640 and 640 XL phone models, Window 10 Mobile version 1703 was the last supported OS version and will reach end of support on June 11th, 2019." .

In a Reddit thread discussing the issues with the Microsoft Store and Windows Update, a support engineer for the firm commented and said it was "aware" of the issue.

As seen in the image above, Windows 10's Setup system will soon tell you precisely what a given issue is, while giving you clear directions to solve it.

The company acknowledged that the current system is not well suited to provide users who are not very tech savvy with needed information to fix issues encountered during setup (or upgrade). If you tried to search, you were lead to dozens of entirely different entries that didn't match up to your KB numbers and did nothing to clarify the situation.

The company is focusing on some of the most aggravating and common errors - the ones that pop up in Windows 10 setup.

However, the next Windows feature update, codenamed Windows 10 19H1, will present a new interface for Windows 10 setup that would provide more information on the errors.

The problem at hand isn't just limited to the vague error, but also to the lack of actions the users can take to mitigate the problem.

One of the coolest parts is that it now links you straight through to the Knowledge Base pages, so you don't need a second device to find out what's wrong with the first device.

In other news, despite the clocking ticking on Windows 7, users aren't really keen on upgrading to a newer version of Windows, which makes Microsoft's mission of killing it off before the January 2020 significantly more hard.

Windows 7 is set to go dark in January 2020, and despite Microsoft's efforts to convince users to upgrade to Windows 10, it looks like killing off the 2009 operating system will be really mission impossible. The only options that users have is to uninstall the listed programs to continue, or close the dialog. Moreover, it will guide the user to follow specific steps for the process to go smoothly.
