Jussie Smollett's Phone Records Rejected By Police After Finally Submitting Them

Jussie Smollett's neighbors cast doubt on his attack story

A threatening letter and drawing to Smollett was sent to the Fox television studio in Chicago on January 22, police told ABC News, and it contained a powdery substance that investigators believe was likely crushed-up Tylenol.

"We are very appreciative of the victim's cooperation".

Chicago police confirmed a New York Post story about the hot sauce bottle.

Smollett, 35, told police a rope was placed around his neck and that bleach was poured on him in the lower street levels in Streeterville. Investigators have already conducted several canvasses of the area and Guglielmi on Monday said it was not clear if the bottle was "connected or not connected" to the alleged attack. "Detectives may be following up with him to request additional data to corroborate the investigative timeline".

Police told ABC News Smollett was seen on camera walking into an apartment with a rope around his neck and "wearing it like a necktie" before calling cops from inside the building.

Smollett was heavily criticized following reports that he refused to give up his phone to police when they asked to confirm his claim that he'd been on the phone with his manager when he was attacked.

Smollett's spokesperson told The Post that he "is the victim here" and "Chicago PD has repeatedly informed us that they find Jussie's account of what happened that night consistent and credible", the statement read.

Sounds like journalists are doing more work than the Chicago Police Department.

"I've been in this neighborhood five years".

Last week, The Post traced Smollett's likely route to the underpass from a 24-hour Subway sandwich shop where he bought a tuna sandwich and a salad. "Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served".

Smollett was treated for minor injuries following the alleged attack after transporting himself to a local hospital.

Clearly, that anonymous person is delusional, since incidents like the Laquan McDonald murder to 15 men exonerated for false arrests show Chicago is far from "the most liberal city", which has an epic history of racism.

A spokesperson for Chicago police added that the department was "appreciative" Smollett made a decision to cooperate with the investigation, but they'll likely be asking him for more phone records in order to properly review the case.
