Joy Behar Dressed as a 'Beautiful African Woman'

Joy Behar

Behar, in the clip, says she was 29 in the photo and dressed as a "beautiful African woman" to attend a Halloween party. Moments later, Symoné said, "I love it though".

Footage of Behar dressing up as a "beautiful African woman" was resurfaced by TheWrap media editor Jon Levine on Wednesday amid a series of blackface scandals making national headlines.

Ingraham and Behar sit on opposite sides of the political spectrum, but Ingraham tweeted her support Thursday despite of their differences over politics.

"Is that you, Joy?"

BEHAR: I had make-up that was a little bit darker than my skin.

The photo was shown during a segment of The View in 2016 about curly hair coming back in style.

At the time, the only non-white co-host next to her was Raven-Symoné who seemed puzzled and kept questioning just what she was looking at since the photo was also shown to the studio audience. Raven-Symoné - who is black - continues her gentle ribbing of Behar, asking, "Are you my auntie, Joy?" and "Did you have tanning lotion on, Joy?" She said she didn't understand the controversy over Real Housewives of New York City's Luann de Lesseps, who wore a huge afro and darkened her skin to dress as Diana Ross for Halloween in 2017.

Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring, also a Democrat, is similarly facing backlash after he admitted this week to wearing blackface during a college party in 1980.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham said that accusing Behar of racism would only feed into today's growing PC culture. "Joy, is that you, Joy?" she asked.

Messages seeking comment were not returned from Behar's agent and the ABC program.

Gov. Ralph Northam's shocking medical school yearbook photo of someone in blackface and another person in a Ku Klux Klan hood surfaced and, in a press conference Saturday, he admitted to wearing blackface for a dance competition.

Critics are calling for co-host Joy Behar to be fired because of a 2016 clip from the show circulating on social media.
