‘American Idol’ Contestant Antonella Barba Now Facing Federal Drug Conspiracy Charges!

Antonella Barba

Barba, 32, was arrested October 11 in downtown Norfolk and charged in a local court with one count of possession of more than 100 grams of heroin with intent to distribute it. The newspaper says she returned to custody on Monday pending a hearing on February 14 in U.S. District Court in Norfolk. She pleaded not guilty to that charge.

According to the government's case, Barba was not distributing drugs on her own but part of a criminal conspiracy active in Hampton Roads, Virginia from 2017-2018.

The indictment, which is heavily redacted, names two men as her alleged co-conspirators. The indictment details a number of drugs sales starting in September 2017 through Barba's arrest.

But the aspiring singer was taken into custody on Monday, Feb. 11, according to the Virginian-Pilot, on a federal indictment charging her with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl.
