Alliance Of American Football Debut Draws Millions Of Viewers On CBS

Get Prepared For The Alliance Of American Football, Which Debuts On Saturday Night

The Bears were assigned to the Arizona Hotshots. There was a bit of that same energy down on the concourse level of the stadium as fans walked in, but there was also a hint of curiosity that surrounded them.

Something called the Alliance of American Football made its debut Saturday night and here's what we learned about the first of the league's nine regular-season weekends. Sports TV Ratings said the first game on CBS ‏averaged 2.913 million viewers between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.

While the league adopted numerous NFL rules, there are a few tweaks and changes. We certainly did as a staff, and I would say the Apollos had the same situation, and the officials did as well. "I think there will be some growing pains, but it will all sort its way out". Marshall finished with five targets and could have had more if the game did not get out of hand.

There are many big names in the coaching staff throughout the league like Steve Spurrier, Mike Riley, and Mike Martz. "I think we had a pretty good crowd, 20,000 wasn't bad". Better than I expected.

The challenge for the AAF will be to keep the good times rolling.

So naturally, we have to give the people what they want.

Though perhaps the best touchdown of the game came on a Philly special from wide receiver Jalin Marshall to Gilbert in the second quarter.

Orlando built a 22-6 lead at halftime and never looked back to win its season opener. Wide receiver Charles Johnson led all receivers with four catches for 60 yards. They also had three interceptions with linebacker Terence Garvin having two of them and returning one 51-yards for a touchdown.

One thing that makes the Head Ball Coach very happy is seeing his teams passing game work and it was hard for him to hide his excitement with what he saw as he coached his first game on opening night of the new AAF. Some of the players with National Football League experience have not played in years, and we have already seen a few of these players get beat out for starting jobs.

So if you're wondering, "What football games are on today?" know this: There are two scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 10. He'll be in San Antonio on Saturday night to watch the Commanders play the San Diego Fleet - broadcast by CBS in prime time - and in Tempe on Sunday night to see the Arizona Hotshots host the Salt Lake Stallions. That game will be played on February 17 at 4PM EST.
