Oscars to have no host after Kevin Hart homophobic tweets

On Wednesday’s “Good Morning America,” Kevin Hart said he will not host the Oscars

The US comedian and actor pulled out of hosting the award ceremony in December amid controversy over homophobic tweets he posted nearly a decade ago.

The insiders claims producers will reportedly "select a crop of A-lister to introduce various segments instead of relying on one marquee name to kick things off in a monologue".

And when Strahan closed the first part of the GMA interview asking if the comedian would reconsider hosting the Oscars, Hart said he was too busy at this point due to filming the Jumanji sequel in February. I shouldn't have to prove who I am.

However, he has now ruled that out, telling Good Morning America he doesn't have time.

A week later, Hart declared once and for all that he would not host the awards show - while continuing to defend his response to the debacle.

With a little less than six weeks to find a replacement for the February 24 show, the Academy has chose to nix a host altogether, according to a report by Variety. There was a great deal of back-and-forth between Hart and the Academy over whether he would actually take the stage, sparked by Hart's refusal to apologize for homophobic remarks he had made in the past. Speaking with Variety last Friday, Hart put those rumors to rest when he unequivocally stated, "It's done". "No, it's done. It's done", said Hart.

As an example, Hart stated during his 2010 comedy special Kevin Hart: Laugh at My Pain, "One of my biggest fears is my son growing up and being gay". Every headline is 'He apologized.' I'm done. "So if people choose to continue to let it grow, then do what you got to do". "But I don't believe in going backward".

Strahan pushed Hart to offer more of a response beyond "I'm over it" and "I'm done with it", but he was met with more of the same. Some things are just left out of your hands, so I'm done with it. I'm not hosting the Oscars this year. "It's not in God's plan right now". I know that I've addressed it.

According to Variety, the idea right now is to have celebrities starring in little skits around the running time, with a focus on the music in the movies.
