Nvidia at CES 2019: GeForce RTX2060 makes Turing architecture GPUs mainstream

Nvidia,GeForce RTX 2060,GTX 11

Turing GPUs are expressly designed for ray tracing - a rendering technique that creates realistic lighting effects. The new models will be available at the end of this month.

A whopping 40 gaming laptop models are launching with the new graphics inside starting January 29. Of the new models, 17 of them feature Nvidia's Max-Q design, offering a thinner, quieter experience. It'll cost $349, which is a little more expensive that xx60 cards are, but not bad considering it'll launch at a lower price than the 1070 when that much-loved card launched.

Nvidia claims RTX 2060 is 60% faster on current games than the predecessor, GTX 1060.

In terms of raw specs, the RTX 2060 comes with 240 Tensor Cores and is rated for "37 RTX-OPS", compared to the RTX 2070's 45, which gives some indication as to how well ray-tracing will work. According to the report from Verge, these laptops will be made available with RTX 2080 to RTX 2060 cards. G-Sync, for those unfamiliar, is a tech that allows displays to synchronize refresh rates with the GPU, eliminating any stutter or input lag.

We definitely can't wait to see what NVIDIA has for the consumer market and especially the budget and mainstream users who would love to have the GeForce RTX tier graphics cards for reasonable prices. Some of the supported monitors have already been announced, with NVIDIA testing around 400 monitors. These benchmarks also showed that the RTX 2060 also outperformed AMD's Radeon RX 590 graphics cards by 22 per cent, but failed to topple the AMD Radeon RX Vega, which beat it by 4.44 per cent. As a bonus, gamers can also get either Anthem or Battlefield V with the RTX 2060 and 2070, and both titles with the 2080 Ti. What do you guys think of the RTX 2060 so far?
