New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Co-op Gameplay - Nintendo Minute

Sometimes fan demand can force a company into giving in to pressure and just straight up giving fans what they're asking for, whether they agree with it or not.

Before you rush off to Google or sketch "Luigette" in response to Nintendo's dig at its perpetual stooge, consider how quickly Bowsette took hold on social media, got her own Wikipedia page, and spread like wildfire among the most creative (and/or horny) Super Mario fans.

For those who somehow managed to miss the fad, Bowsette and her numerous counterparts stemmed from the game's new item, the Super Crown, a power-up that could transform any who donned it into a version of Princess Peach. U Deluxe, a repackaging of the Wii U launch title with all bonus "Year of Luigi" content included, as well as some new a playable Toadette.

"When Toadette finds one of these, she can transform into the Super-powered Peachette". The idea is that when Bowser puts on the crown, he turns into the vicious vixen, Bowsette.

Adam Bankhurst is a news writer for IGN who is sad Bowsette isn't canon for now, but always holds hope for a brighter future. To be fair, Nintendo's decision to keep Bowsette away from any kind of official canon probably has something to do with the fact that a lot of the fan art was somewhat, well, pornographic in nature. It makes total sense from a PR perspective; Nintendo is known for making family-friendly games, which doesn't much jive with the presence of a buxom, dragon-tailed dominatrix (then again, Disney somehow signed off on Jessica Rabbit, so anything's possible).

With the release of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe coming out for Nintendo Switch on January 11.
