Michael Jackson sexual abuse documentary added to Sundance lineup

Sundance announces explosive documentaries on Michael Jackson and Steve Bannon

"When allegations of sexual abuse by Jackson involving young boys surfaced in 1993, many found it hard to believe that the King of Pop could be guilty of such unspeakable acts".

A documentary detailing the story of two boys who alleged Michael Jackson sexually abused them is set to debut at the Sundance Film Festival. Now in their 30s, the pair describe how they were sexually abused by Jackson and how they came to terms with it years later. The film is directed by Dan Reed, who won a BAFTA award for his 2014 film "The Paedophile Hunters".

"This is yet another lurid production in an outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in on Michael Jackson", an estate statement said. "This so-called 'documentary" is just another rehash of dated and discredited allegations.

Michael Jackson would have turned 60 in 2018, but died in 2009 aged 50. Jackson was acquitted by jurors of all 14 criminal counts against him in state court in 2005.

The names of the Jackson accusers profiled in the documentary were not released.

Speaking to TMZ, Jackson's estate also named Robson and Safechuck as the accusers in the documentary - pointing out their lawsuits were dismissed. The Jackson Estate made sure to remind those keeping up with the latest scandal that "both testified under oath that Michael never did anything inappropriate toward them".

Leaving Neverland has been added to the premiere schedule for the film festival later this month along with a film about President Trump called The Brink.

Leaving Neverland will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this month and includes interviews with two alleged victims of Jackson.
