Kanye West Pulled Out of Headlining Coachella Due to Absurd Dome Demand

Kanye insisted Coachella build him a dome, became agitated over porta-potty logistical concerns

Kanye West increasingly must be finding himself WAY out there - because after hearing stories like this one about Coachella, the rest of us sure are! Billboard also reported that Coachella isn't the first festival West has pulled out of over the same last-minute dome idea, as he was nearly a headliner for Governers Ball in New York City before promoters turned down the request. West planned to have set designer and frequent collaborator John McGuire design the makeshift arena; the rapper would have then performed on a stage located in the center.

"He has some great [production] ideas, but we just weren't able to pull them off right now", Coachella co-founder Paul Tollett told Los Angeles Times without going into detail about the dome "I'd like to circle back with him and figure out a future plan of what to do with what's in his head".

However with only four months to build the dome, which would require the entire festival site to be rearranged, including removing a large section of portable toilets, the festival declined. "These 40x60 stages are so archaic", a source said. Instead of coming to an agreement, Coachella secured Ariana Grande as a replacement.

On the very same day, Billboard reports Tollett and Goldenvoice got in touch with Scooter Braun and just like that, Ariana Grande replaced West.

Pissed off, Kanye West reportedly reacted... not so well. Braun had terminated his professional relationship with West in early December, Billboard has learned, marking the second split in 2018 between the mega-manager and the rapper.

This comes after Australian rock band Tame Impala was also bumped up to the top headliner slot for Day 2 - replacing Justin Timberlake who had to reschedule tour dates due to bruised vocal cords.

So THAT is how it all came to be! Let us know your reactions in the comments (below)!
