Doorbell-licker spent 3 hours lurking outside family's home, police say

Bizarre video shows prowler licking family's doorbell for three whole hours

A security video shows a stranger approach the front door of a Salinas, California, home early Friday, then look directly into the camera before proceeding to lick the doorbell - for hours, KION reports.

The incident occurred Friday, Jan. 4 around 2 a.m.

They weren't home at the time of the incident but said that their children were inside the home sleeping, they told KION-TV.

The homeowner reviewed footage and reported the man continued "taunting" the home for about three hours. Police said he took an extension cord from the front yard, but the neighbors found it the next morning. He has not yet been located.

The man was also apparently caught on camera relieving himself.

The Salinas Police Department has identified the individual as 33-year-old Roberto Daniel Arroyo.

And, well... licking the doorbell.

"We were pleasantly surprised the image was so clear".

Authorities say the footage has helped them identify the man, but he is not in custody. Investigators say he could face a number of charges.

"This just kind of re-enforces how important it is to have security within your home", said the homeowners.

Still, Dungan's not exactly afraid of the licking guy - she just needed to give her doorbell a quick wipedown: "You kind of laugh about it afterwards because technically, he didn't harm anybody".
