Chelsea target Mauro Icardi won't sign new deal with Inter Milan

Mauro Icardi Roman Abramovich

Inter must put a better offer on the table for Mauro Icardi to consider renewing his deal at San Siro, according to his agent.

The 25-year-old striker's current deal is set to expire in 2021, but the Italian club wants to push ahead with a new contract to eliminate his release clause.

Icardi's wife Wanda Nara, who is subsequently his agent, is reported to have met with Inter to discuss the player's future, coming to the agreement that he should leave the club next summer.

Icardi's contract includes a €110m release clause that becomes active for a two-week time frame, running from 1st July until 15th July.

"We could reach an agreement at any moment", she said, "but at the moment we are very far off". So far, we have not received a satisfactory offer from Inter. It's not logical to renew Mauro's contract for the amount he now earns.

"Icardi is our captain and we'll talk about his contract, but there aren't any problems between us and we won't be influenced by what the newspapers say". There are some very important clubs interested in signing him.

Nara has hinted the west Londoners are interested in signing Inter's talisman and that he's also on Barcelona and Real Madrid's radars.

When it comes to the English team that Nara mentioned, Chelsea have been linked with the Inter Milan ace in the past. We believe that Mauro is at a superior level.

Although it appears that AC Milan's Higuain has emerged as Sarri's number one target, Icardi, who plays for Milan's rivals Inter, could be an easier player to land.

"We have a very good relationship with the two biggest clubs in Spain who are very interested in Mauro, as well as one in France and one in England", she told AS.
