Chandler chose Lakers over Warriors because of Cousins' inevitable return

Tyson Chandler Considered Warriors Before Signing With Lakers

Coach Steve Kerr, addressing the media prior to the Warriors-Knicks game Tuesday night at Oracle Arena, said no firm timeline has been established for Cousins to play in a game.

The 28-year-old Cousins has spent the season rehabbing from an Achilles injury.

"I would say the last two scrimmages that he's had", Kerr said.

Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins, a Mobile, Ala. native himself, had reason to be, too.

"All I can tell you is (his return) is closer now", Kerr told reporters, via ESPN.

However, according to the New York Times' Marc Stein, the big center is targeting a return to action for the Warriors' trip to Los Angeles.

Kerr revealed that Cousins may not return on January 18 like some reports have suggested.

Cousins recently ramped up the intensity of his workouts, joining the team for full practice. Between now and Boogie's alleged debut, the team will play four games (vs. Bulls, at Mavericks, at Nuggets, and vs. Pelicans).

The center stunned the National Basketball Association in the summer when he chose the star-studded Warriors as the team he would rehab with, signing a one-year, $5.3 million deal.

They likely don't need it, but the Golden State Warriors are getting reinforcements. The Warriors have players with huge personalities like Kevin Durant and Draymond Green who ironically got into a dispute with one another during a heated moment earlier this season.

While the Warriors will welcome Cousins with open arms, his repaired Achilles will still be the main concern.

The Warriors are now 26-14 on the season and sit second in the NBA's Western Conference.
