Apple’s CES Ad Hits Google And Amazon Where It Hurts

Apple uses famous Las Vegas slogan to promote iPhone security on billboard near CES

It also included the URL to Apple's privacy website. Despite this, the company has clearly made itself known this year with a large billboard ad placed right next to the Las Vegas Convention Center, where CES is taking place.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, who refers to the whole data breach mess as "the data industrial complex", has called for stricter tech privacy laws.

"If you value your privacy, buy an iProduct": that's the message Apple is trying to send with their giant ad in Las Vegas, which was bought to woo this week's army of CES visitors from Android and other competing products.

Tech darling Apple is not expected to attend this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), but rivals may still feel its presence.

Spotted by Engadget's Chris Velazco, Apple's trollish ad is a play on the famous phrase: "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas", changing the "in Vegas" parts to "on your iPhone".

Apple spent a lot of time in 2018 taking Facebook and Google to task for their awful privacy policies.

CES is scheduled to begin on Tuesday. That's especially true for Monday, Jan. 6: "Press day" is comprised of at least a dozen press conferences, starting at 8 a.m. PT sharp (11 a.m. ET, 4 p.m. UK) with LG.
