Alien: Blackout is a Mobile Game Featuring Isolation's Amanda Ripley

Alien Isolation

This is the new Alien project that was trademarked late previous year, so don't expect a console announcement anytime soon.

The game is being developed by D3 GO! and will be a survival horror game. The good news is that Alien Blackout has been officially revealed.

As a result, and given the original was not a financial hit, it's been assumed that the game has nothing to do with 2014's Alien Isolation.

The fact that a new Alien game is being worked on at the moment is not a secret, and indeed it was first confirmed by 20th Century Fox nearly exactly a year ago today. Unlike in Isolation, where the majority of the game was tracking down what had happened with Ellen Ripley.

In Alien: Blackout, players assume the role of Amanda Ripley, trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station carrying a blood-thirsty creature. Outsmart the flawless hunter by making perilous choices.

In Blackout, you'll be tasked with guiding AI crewmates to safety whilst also attempting to avoid the Xenomorph.

It has been detailed that there are seven levels that will require you to guide a crew through the station using only the stations emergency systems through a holographic map. Alien: Blackout takes place between the films, Alien and Aliens and has a focus on forcing you to make choices that impact the game.

I actually quite like the idea of helping the crew from a control room instead of dealing with the xenomorph directly, especially since we've already seen the first-person horror done so well. "The uncertainty and unpredictability of both the alien and her crew can impose total defeat for Amanda and the entire station". However, there's not very much we can pull from the trailer.

Alien: Blackout will be available on iOS, Android, and on the Amazon Appstore. At the same time, it's too early to write the game off just yet - I'll reserve my judgment when I am able to get my hands on the title.
