Trump's Undocumented Golf Club Housekeepers Speak Out

Undocumented maids at President Trump's N.J. golf club say boss called them racial slurs threatened deportation

"While working at Donald Trump's estate in Bedminster and interacting with the President and his immediate family, my clients and others were repeatedly subjected to abuse, called racial epithets and threatened with deportation", Anibal Romero, a lawyer representing Morales and Diaz, said in a statement to Yahoo News.

He has spent many weekends at the Bedminster course since his election two years ago.

"I never imagined, as an immigrant from the countryside in Guatemala, that I would see such important people close up", Morales tells The Times, which describes her as a "diminutive woman with only two years of education who came to the United States speaking no English". And It appears the resort knows she isn't legally allowed in the country.

Undocumented immigrants who either work or have worked at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey are now going on the record to talk about their experiences working there in interviews with the New York Times.

She was hired at Trump's golf club in 2013 with phony documents. She also shared with the Times that the president was particular about having his items, as well as Melania's and Barron's, washed with a "special detergent" in a washing machine separate from the rest of the club's residents. Sanda Diaz, a Costa Rican native, told the Times that she was also an illegal immigrant when she worked at the club from 2010 until 2013.

Both women say they used fake documents during the hiring process but that supervisors were aware that they were undocumented.

Mr Trump made a crackdown on illegal immigration one of the central planks of his campaign and presidency. The president railed against illegal immigrants in the "caravan" during the campaign, and has referred to an "infestation" of immigration.

Morales told the paper she was hurt by Trump's public comments.

Victorina Morales, a native of Guatemala, told the newspaper she had crossed into the USA illegally in 1999 and was hired at the club in 2013 as a housekeeper using phony documentation.

Victorina Morales and Sandra Diaz approached the New York Times with their stories through an immigration lawyer. "We sweat it out and attend to his every need and have to put up with his humiliation".

Morales said she cleaned Trump's villa while he watched TV, saw a parade of potential cabinet picks during the presidential transition, and witnesses chief of staff John Kelly - the former head of Homeland Security - meet with the president.
