Michael Avenatti Says He Won't Run For President After All

Michael Avenatti

Lawyer Michael Avenatti, who represents adult film star Stormy Daniels in her legal battles with U.S. President Donald Trump, said on Tuesday he will not run for the White House in 2020, ending a months-long flirtation with a bid for the Democratic nomination.

The controversial attorney now says he has decided he will NOT seek the presidency in 2020.

He said on Twitter that he decided not to run for president "after consultation with my family and at their request", adding that "but for their concerns I would run".

Mr. Avenatti stated that his ultimate goal was to have Trump removed from public office to restore the shared values of the republic as well as the nation.

Avenatti's decision to pull his toe out of the political waters comes two weeks after his arrest on suspicion of felony domestic violence.

As recently as Sunday, Michael Avenatti was still talking up his viability as the only Democratic presidential candidate who could fight back against Donald Trump. On the 14th of November, Avenatti was arrested and denied the allegations, stating they were meant to tarnish his reputation. He continued: "The party must immediately recognize that numerous likely candidates are not battletested and have no real chance at winning". The Los Angeles Police Department referred the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney for prosecution.

"We will not prevail in 2020 without a fighter", said Avenatti.

Avenatti had been laying the groundwork for a possible run with visits to early voting states. "I remain hopeful the party finds one".

Miniutti said after Avenatti's arrest that he had said, 'Do not disrespect me.

Avenatti, however, slipped and lost his grip and she used the opportunity to send texts to a friend, according to the documents.

Despite his announcement that he would not be that candidate, that idea was still on display in the final words of Avenatti's statement.
