French wonder kid and World Cup victor Kylian Mbappe has won the Trophee Kopa, awarded at the Ballon d'Or ceremony to the best young player under 21 years of age at Monday's ceremony in Paris.

He said: "He is a real French football monument who has left Arsenal".

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has revealed the details regarding the offer former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger put forward to him as well as his reaction when he rejected it.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward, 19, beat Liverpool and England right-back Trent Alexander Arnold to the award after helping France win the World Cup in Russian Federation, scoring in the 4-2 final win over Croatia.

Kylian Mbappe was named victor of the Kopa Trophy for young player of the year at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris on Monday.

"When the entirety of Europe gets on its knees in front of him to celebrate him, that certainly means something".

Mbappe also played a pivotal role in PSG's domestic treble last season under former coach Unai Emery following his move from Monaco, which eventually cost the Ligue 1 side £166m. "I chose a different direction but he wasn't annoyed at me". Nearly every European giant was interested in signing the teenager, but he eventually joined PSG on loan in 2017 before securing a permanent move to Paris during the summer.

"He was a gentleman about it and wished me good luck". "I have not seen many people in this world being viewed in such a unanimous way".

The Ballon d'Or is the prize every top footballer hopes to win 1 day - the title of the best footballer in the world.

Kylian Mbappé is one of Europe's top stars and proved that to be true when he became the inaugural victor of the Kopa Trophy on Monday in Paris.
