Thousand Oaks Shooter Mocked ‘Hopes and Prayers’ in Pre-Shooting Facebook Post

Cody Coffman has been identified as one of the victims of the California bar shooting

Police have named the suspect in Wednesday's attack as 28-year-old Ian David Long, a US Marine Corps veteran with suspected PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).

"Yeah ... I'm insane, but the only thing you people do after these shootings is "hopes and prayers" ... or "keep you in my thoughts" ... every time ... and wonder why these keep happening ..."

Echoing Orfanos' plea for action from USA lawmakers who have for far too long allowed the gun lobby to restrain meaningful steps against America's uniquely deadly gun problem, one woman from Thousand Oaks asked a question on the mind of every concerned citizen: "How many more times is this going to happen?"

Witnesses have described chaotic scenes as the bar - packed mostly with local university students - as victims attempted to flee the shooter.

12 people were tragically killed when a gunman opened fire in a crowded bar in Thousand Oaks, California.

Long is the gunman who was responsible for killing 12 and injuring many more when he opened fire at a bar in Thousand Oaks. In April, officers responded to a disturbance at Long's home. They went through windows.

"He was an unbelievable man", sheriff's Capt. Garo Kuredjian said. "He was somewhat irate, acting a little irrationally".

Others have spoken of Long's aggression and, after his discharge from the Marines, his struggle with mental health issues.

"I don't know what the hell happened. It must have been awful". No motive has been given for the shooting. Long's friends said he would often go to the Borderline Bar & Grill.

He later told CNN he had been calling Cody's cell phone.

"She had a lot of genuine friends and a lot of friends who cared about her", friend Brandon Bohning said.

Colell is not the only person who has reported on Long's unusual and often erratic behavior, but she is the first to suggest that he had mental health issues prior to enlisting with the Marines Several neighbors noted Long's mental health issues, and one neighbor, Robert Berges, even claimed that Long would throw furniture around his mother's house. "He was probably the only student that I was actually scared of when I coached there".

In one instance, Ms Colell said Long used his fingers to mimic shooting her in the back of the head as she talked to another athlete.

"It was just semi-automatic, as many shots as he could pull, and then when it started to reload that's when we got people out of there".

"I am very emotional right now", he said as he stood among other families waiting to get word of their loved ones' fates.

Authorities are working to piece together a timeline on the shooting.

"I literally feared for myself around him", Colell said in an interview.

I feel kind of guilty that I didn't do something to try to stop it.

And in his yearbook, Long noted one goal to aspire to after baseball.
