Some Google Pixel 3 Users Now Reporting Camera Crashes

Owners of the Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3 XL have been plagued with a serious problem: memory management.

It looks like on a Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL, if you fire up the camera and take a couple of stills, several things could happen that indicate a buggy operation.

Google Camera's new Night Sight mode has been impressing nearly everyone lately. The Nightscape mode is specifically created to help users capture low-light shots with improved clarity, less noise, and more accurate colour reproduction as well as a better dynamic range than what was available through the default camera app previously. In short, some of those fleeting moments are lost forever. As it turns out, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have been riddled with bugs.

The issues cause background apps to spontaneously close. Such a behavior is often attributed to Android phones running out of free RAM to use.

Luckily, Google is aware of the problem and issued a statement on the matter to 9to5Google. Some of the reports seem to tie it, again, to the camera app though there's no hard evidence of it yet. Specifically, the hardware is reported to crash any time the camera is instantiated from any application other than the "Camera" application itself, including any app that accesses the hardware rather than the device's gallery functions.
