Singapore Airlines to Launch Seattle Flights in November 2019

Singapore Airlines to begin non-stop flights to Seattle next September

The frequency of the service will increase to four flights a week in October 2019.

This announcement comes a day before the launch of the non-stop flights from Singapore to Los Angeles using the Airbus A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range) aircraft. Flight time for the Singapore-bound leg is scheduled for 17 hours, 50 minutes.Singapore Airlines is on the move in Northern California, too.

As we recently predicted, Singapore Airlines will be using their regular A350-900 aircraft on the route.

The flights will be numbered SQ27 and SQ28. Due to the changing time zones, the flight will land in Seattle at the same time it takes off from Singapore, 0905.

Subject to regulatory approvals, flight SQ28 will initially depart Singapore at 0925hrs every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and arrive in Seattle at 0905hrs on the same day, Singapore Airlines said.

The carrier generated headlines around the world as it bumped out the prior record-holder, Qatar Airways and its 9,032-mile flight between Doha, Qatar, and Auckland, New Zealand.Friday, Singapore Airlines will restart another USA route that also will be among the longest on the planet.

For Singapore, the ULR has allowed the resumption of nonstops from Singapore to Newark and Los Angeles - routes the carrier discontinued in 2013 as it phased out its gas-guzzling, four-engine Airbus A340s amid rising fuel prices.

Interestingly, Singapore Airlines makes no mention of their partnership with Alaska Airlines in their press release.

"Our goal is to encourage taxi drivers to use e-hailing applications, whether it is from Grab or other companies, (we should) not focus on Grab only as there are 20 to 30 e-hailing companies in the country, there are many more options", he said during a Parliament session. As such, Passengers will be able to access many more seamless connections across the US.

The Singapore-Seattle tickets will be made available for sale progressively from Nov 7 through the various distribution channels, it added. As the flight is not scheduled to commence until 3rd September 2019, the airline will have plenty of time to sell seats. While it is unlikely the regulators would reject the request, it is certainly a small possibility. But it's a different plane that's been the key for Singapore's recent growth spurt in the U.S.
