Samantha Bee Defends Jim Acosta: We Should Be 'Ashamed' of Trump

Donald Trump was involved in an angry exchange with a CNN reporter

In a later tweet, Mr Acosta said Ms Sanders' assertion he placed his hands on the woman was "a lie".

The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, the nation's premier defender of the legal rights of journalists, joins the White House Correspondents' Association in vehemently objecting to the revocation of a CNN reporter's access credentials.

"President Trump believes in a free press and expects and welcomes tough questions of him and his administration", Sanders said in the statement published on Twitter.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on Wednesday night shared a video of CNN reporter Jim Acosta that appeared to have been altered to make his actions at a news conference look more aggressive toward a White House intern.

The exchange set off a furor among political reporters and websites, with some saying he stood up to the president while others decried his apparent lack of manners. "To be honest. You aren't the best", he hit back.

So what is it about CNN's chief White House correspondent that Trump just can't stand? Trump repeatedly said "That's enough".

"It was not an invasion", Acosta explained.

Miller reacted angrily, calling it "one of the most outrageous, insulting, ignorant and foolish thing you have ever said".

"CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them. You shouldn't be working for CNN". To Jim Acosta, as he tried to explain the migrant caravan to the president: 'Thank you for telling me that, I appreciate it.'11.

Acosta then attempted to ask a follow-up question, only to be told by the president, "That's enough". "You are a rude, bad person, you shouldn't be working for CNN".

Looking back at Acosta, Trump added: "The way you treat [press secretary] Sarah Huckabee is disgusting, and the way you treat other people is awful. You shouldn't treat people that way". "You shouldn't treat people that way".

Mason, a Reuters correspondent, also came forward in defence of his CNN colleague.

"Watching it yesterday, I was frustrated", Huntsman said. "He's a diligent reporter who busts his butt like the rest of us".

"That's such a racist question", said the President, who has made accusations of unfair coverage from the media a staple on the campaign trail.

"Just sit down", Trump said.

They are not only unsafe, the are disturbingly un-American.

President Donald Trump speaks during a news conference in the East Room at the White House in Washington, Nov. 7, 2018.

He turned specifically on reporter Yamiche Alcindor of PBS' "NewsHour". She said that "on the campaign trail, you called yourself a nationalist". The journalist questioned Trump about the DACA immigration plan again saying, "What about the DACA kids?"

Peter Baker from The New York Times, who has been covering the White House for 22 years, said, "This is something I have never seen since I started covering the White House in 1996. What do you say to that?" He added, "I didn't put my hands on her or touch her, as the White House is alleging".
