Protesters target home of Fox News’ Tucker Carlson

BREAKING: Antifa Group Shows Up At Tucker Carlson's House, Tells Him He's 'Not Safe' (VIDEO)

"It wasn't a protest. It was a threat", Carlson continued. "They were threatening my family to get me to stop talking", he said.

A group called Smash Racism D.C. posted messages on social media encouraging the protest and revealing Carlson's address. He said his wife, Susie, was home alone and heard the commotion from the kitchen.

Carlson later told Fox News that his wife was at home with his four children at the time but that he was at Fox News' studios in Washington preparing his show. The Carlsons "should never feel unsafe or terrorized in their own home or neighborhood". His brother - who lives close by - arrived about the same time as law enforcement.

After far-left protesters harassed Fox News host Tucker Carlson's family in an incident now being investigated as a potential hate crime, a Vox.com writer defended the intimidation - and then ate his words.

"How can you go out for dinner and leave the kids at home at this point?" he said. "It was a threat", Carlson told The Washington Post on Thursday.

A San Francisco Chronicle reported a woman was also overheard in one of the deleted videos saying she wanted to "bring a pipe bomb" to his house.

Smash Racism D.C. has helped organize similar protests in public and at the homes of other conservative figures, including Texas Sen. The same organization made headlines weeks ago after confronting Senator Ted Cruz and his wife at a local restaurant. In a post, the group added: "Tonight, we remind you that you are not safe".

Carlson said that the aftermath of the controversy had actually been "very nice and affirming" and reminded him of how decent Americans were as people.

The Post's Erik Wemple wrote, "I, too, dislike what @tuckercarlson says on television, in books, etc".

"I think Tucker is a bad influence on modern America but that doesnt justify harassing him at home", Boot tweeted. The Facebook video was also taken down, but the page is still up. "Feeding monsters just makes more monsters", late-night show host and comedian Stephen Colbert tweeted.

CNN's Washington bureau chief Sam Feist tweeted, "What happened at @TuckerCarlson's house last night is outrageous and should be universally condemned".

Yglesias initially responded to Slate writer Will Saletan, who had criticized the group's actions by writing on Twitter, "One way to become the fascists is to think you can do anything in the name of anti-fascism". "@TuckerCarlson is tough & can handle a lot, but he does not deserve this".
