NBA All-Star draft will be televised in January

2018 NBA All Star Game

The NBA and NBPA have agreed to televise the All-Star draft for the 2019 contest in Charlotte, Marc Stein and Kevin Draper of The New York Times report.

As the league looked to further the sport and remain a pioneer of sorts, the 2018 NBA All-Star Game saw notable changes both on and off the court.

A firm date for the televised draft has not yet been established, but January 30 and 31 have emerged as two potential targets for a TNT broadcast, according to the people, who were not authorized to discuss the plans publicly. That pool of players is then drafted by the two captains.

After the teams were announced, LeBron, Steph and others around the league said they hoped the league would televise the draft in 2019. "Whether a decision to broadcast the draft will be made after this year's game, that will be determined going forward".

LeBron James and Stephen Curry were the captains past year, but now they both play in the Western Conference.

"What's bad about it?"

The NBA's second annual All-Star draft will be televised. "At the end of the day, every single person that gets picked, you are an All-Star, so it doesn't matter where you really go, so I think televise it".

James and Curry were the first captains to partake in the process last season. Depending on who represents the East this year as the captain, James, Curry or another West All-Star could be in for an incredible event when it's time to pick teams.

"I think obviously there are certain personalities that can add to it", James said.

This year's game will be played in Charlotte on February 17.

Last season, Team LeBron defeated Team Stephen 148-145.
