Logitech Drops Acquisition Talks With Plantronics

The Swiss computer accessory maker Logitech has ended its discussions to acquire the US Bluetooth earpiece and gaming headset manufacturer Plantronics.

However, on Sunday (November 25) the company decided it was time to comment on the media repors themselves to clear out a few things.

Earlier today Reuters reported that Logitech is in discussions to acquire Plantronics Inc., the us based earphones and headphones manufacturer with a range of products from Bluetooth headphones as well as earbuds, gaming and professional headphones as well as audio peripherals to complement their existing range of products. 'However, those discussions were terminated.

This would be Logitech's largest acquisition thus far if the deal goes through.

The announcement came after Reuters reported on the negotiations between Logitech and Plantronics last Friday. It said it would deliver on its strategy as a standalone company. The company has a market cap of $5.32 billion, a price-to-earnings ratio of 24.19, a price-to-earnings-growth ratio of 1.98 and a beta of 1.09.

Neither Logitech nor Plantronics have commented on the rumors. Plantronics, which is a California makes a unified communication system, conferencing system, wireless headsets and some software which it sells to consumers and business.

For the uninitiated, Plantronics was founded in the year 1961, with its first goods being lightweight headsets for air company pilots. Earlier this year, the company announced acquisition of Blue Microphones for United States dollars 117 million in cash, Cnet reported. Last year, it had acquired USA video conferencing equipment maker Polycom, for $2 billion. It later became known for selling headsets to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), including the ones worn by Neil Armstrong during his first moonwalk in 1969.
