Indictments? Final Report? White House Braces for Mueller

Late Show host Stephen Colbert discussed the Democrats taking the House on Tuesday stating the party can now

The special counsel's office upheld a long-standing Justice Department guideline that calls for discretion in taking legal or law enforcement measures within 60 days of an election in an effort to avoid the impression of attempting to sway voters.

Sessions also defended Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe in the interview, saying he's "confident" it will be handled "appropriately and with justification".

After Trump won the White House, Sessions gave up a safe seat to lead Trump's Justice Department.

As Mueller has gotten closer to the heart of the Trump family's closely guarded financial secrets, the president has become more enraged. And did his campaign have advance knowledge of illegally hacked Democratic emails?

The AP reported that the resignation "was the culmination of a toxic relationship" between Sessions and Trump based on a few factors, but largely Session's having recused himself from dealing with Mueller's probe.

"According to the chain of command, (Rosenstein) should be the attorney general", Gorton said.

"I'm not doing anything", he said. Matt Whitaker worked for Jeff Sessions and he was always extremely highly thought of and he still is.

Critics of the Mueller probe, including Whitaker, argue it has gone too far. But the work is not done.

Christie shocked the Republican establishment after he endorsed then-candidate Donald Trump for president in February 2016 and joined Trump's campaign. That includes implying he had inside knowledge in separate email exchanges with a Breitbart editor and Steve Bannon, the former Trump campaign chief executive, just days before WikiLeaks began releasing thousands of emails stolen from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta.

Denise Jenkins said she wants Senate Republicans to "grow a spine". The tally is still coming in from Palm Beach and Broward counties, and Mr. Trump did not rule out a federal role in potential recounts.

In an op-ed in August previous year he publicly urged Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein - who oversees the probe - to "limit the scope of his investigation to the four corners of the order appointing him special counsel". In fact, it allows Mueller to pursue "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation".

In his comments Friday, he said he had not spoken with Whitaker about Mueller's investigation, which until now has been overseen by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. In the months before, Whitaker was a familiar presence on CNN, where he questioned Mueller's scope and reach. "What happened immediately after, Trump has taken the step of putting someone in place, that's an illegal step".

Trump has tapped a number of cable TV veterans for high-ranking posts in his administration - including communications director Bill Shine, once of of Fox News, State Department press secretary Heather Nauert, also of Fox, and chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow of CNBC.

Trump, who has frequently dismissed that probe as a "witch hunt", feigned ignorance of Whitaker's background.

"Today, we saw a lot of people come out because they're really concerned about the firing of Jeff Sessions and the move to put Matt Whitaker in charge of the special counsel investigation", Forsythe said.
