"Even nearly got married/And for Pete I'm so thankful/Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm/'Cause he was an angel", she sings.

Ariana had previously revealed that Ricky, along with Sean and Pete, had been sent the song to listen to before it was released.

Grande also shared a clip on her Instagram story of Alvarez looking shocked as he hears his name in the song. As much as Pete turns his darkness into humor, there are some things that he values too much to joke about, and Ariana's feelings definitely fall into that category, ' the insider tells the outlet.

"She's a wonderful, strong person, and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world".

The breakup song's lyrics "One taught me love, one taught me patience, one taught me pain", have everyone questioning which ex goes with which line.
