Stephen Amell Reveals Superman In Black Suit For Arrowverse Crossover

SUPERMAN Returns to CW in a Black Suit for ELSEWORLDS DC-TV Crossover

The upcoming Arrow-verse crossover keeps getting more interesting.

We've already learned quite a bit about who will be showing up during this Arrowverse crossover, including Ruby Rose's Batwoman and Elizabeth Tulloch's Lois Lane.

In other CW crossover related news, while Legends of Tomorrow won't be included in Elseworlds, the team is planning their own crossover of sorts within their own ranks. Now, Stephen Amell has shared a behind-the-scenes photo featuring himself, Grant Gustin, and Hoechlin as Superman in a black costume, not unlike the dark suit he wore in the comics. Hoechlin, though, isn't wearing the traditional red and blue Superman costume.

But of course, we can't help but wonder...why in the hell is he even wearing this suit to begin with? What remains to be seen is how it will play into the crossover, which is titled "Elseworlds". Seriously, why? Given that it's an Elseworlds story, it's not out of the questions to assume that perhaps there is some version of the character in the multiverse that is a little less happy-go-lucky than Tyler Hoechlin's take on Kal-El.

That said, it would be very surprising if Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl all dedicated episodes to an event that doesn't have a lasting impact on any of the shows.

Whatever the case, the idea of Superman in a black suit is an exciting one. Hopefully the crossover won't spend too much time rehashing traded origins, but if Barry and Oliver are flip-flopped, who else will be playing a different role in the crossover event?
