Rihanna reportedly turned down a Super Bowl performance opportunity in support of Colin Kaepernick

The pop superstar has reportedly turned down an offer to headline next year's Super Bowl LIII halftime show in support of Colin Kaepernick, reports Us Weekly. But, Rihanna is standing in solidarity with Kaepernick, who has an ongoing legal case against the NFL.

"The offer and exposure would have been great for Rihanna as she's planning a new album and tour but she stuck to what's right in her eyes", the source adds. "She doesn't agree with the NFL's stance".

This is how we ended up with Maroon 5.

Colin has since filed a grievance against the league and its owners in November 2017, accusing them of colluding to keep him off the field. The NFL tried to dismiss the collusion case, which failed. "I kinda got two [crushes] between Rihanna and Nicki Minaj", he revealed to E! The reason for Rihanna is her style, her swag and the aura about her.

As for who's performing in lieu of the Anti hit maker, Maroon 5 is set to be a headliner, according to what multiple sources have confirmed to our sister website, Variety. The 2019 Super Bowl is scheduled for February 3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
