President Trump leads cheer in Kentucky for McConnell

Pres. Trump heading to KY. to hold MAGA rally, support GOP candidates

Crowds gathered early at Alumni Coliseum on Eastern Kentucky University's Richmond campus, hours before President Donald Trump's Saturday rally on behalf of Congressman Andy Barr.

"There's nobody tougher, there's nobody smarter", Trump said of McConnell to a cheering crowd of some 6,000 supporters in the senator's home state.

"There's been a lot of talk about whether a left-wing mob exists in America".

But the president spent only a fraction of the evening rally talking about Barr, focusing instead on McConnell and the confirmation of more than 80 judges to the federal bench during the current Congress.

However, in a post made on October 13 after the rally had ended, Frazier painted a different picture in saying, "The Republican establishment, in their desperation, was forced to bring in President Trump to go toe-to-toe with Amy (McGrath) because they have no confidence in their candidate running on his own merits".

"What happened to him was so unfair, I've never seen anything like it", Trump said. "And Rand Paul and Mitch, they stuck with him, no doubts about it".

Trump went on to compliment McConnell further. "You know he goes down as the greatest leader, in my opinion, in history".

"He's better when I'm president than he ever was when anybody else was president", he added, smiling.

Biden said Trump, who tries to portray himself as a strong, tough man, is some that he could have "beaten the hell out of" when they were in high school.

"Aren't we proud of President Trump?" he said to cheers when called onstage. "I thank you for coming out and helping this first time candidate in a district like ours, but I also thank you sir for your decades of incredible service to our country", said McGrath.

For his part, Trump praised Paul as "a senator of great common sense".

Trump arranged to meet Brunson in the Oval Office on Saturday before he was to leave for Kentucky. "We got to turn this country around and get back on track, so I'm going to do my part", said Krajewski. "His opponent will NEVER vote for us, only for Pelosi".

Barr's tight race in a district that normally leans Republican apparently has White House political strategists anxious; Trump said, "The election of Andy is a really important thing ..."

Democrats don't necessarily need retired Lt. Col. Amy McGrath, a former Marine fighter pilot who rose to prominence thanks to a viral campaign ad, to win Kentucky's 6th Congressional District.

"What the insane, radical Democrats did to Justice Kavanaugh is a national disgrace", Trump said.

Trump repeated his allegation that "the Democrats have become the party of crime, they really have", and "the Republicans are the party of safety and the party of jobs, jobs, jobs". He commented on the matter during the rally.

"We don't pay ransom".

Trump did not address controversy surrounding the disappearance of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul last week. He did, however, raise the possibility of "severe punishment" for the regime in a recent interview with "60 Minutes".

Paul also spoke briefly during the rally, praising Trump support of his idea to allow association health plans, which let small businesses and the self-employed band together based on their industry or location and buy health insurance.

He criticized the president's response to the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, that resulted in the death of protester Heather Heyer, the separation of thousands of migrant children from their families, and Trump's unwillingness to condemn Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
