Naby Keita suffers injury during Guinea clash

Naby Keita Liverpool 2018-19

Naby Keita is the latest player to be struck down by the worldwide break curse, with the Guinean carried off by a team mate after what looked like a thigh injury during his Africa Cup of Nations match against Rwanda on Tuesday.

The 2019 Cup of Nations qualifier at the Stade Nyamirambo in Rwandan capital Kigali finished 1-1, depriving leaders Guinea of qualification with two matchdays to spare.

The 23-year-old had to be carried from the pitch after picking up an injury late on in the first half of Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Rwanda.

He is the fourth Liverpool player heading back to Merseyside with a problem following the latest series of internationals. The centre-back will miss Holland's friendly with Belgium this evening but Liverpool hope he'll be able to feature for them at the weekend.

Meanwhile, James Milner injured his hamstring against Manchester City 10 days ago but reports claim that the midfielder could be available.

The news came as another blow for Jurgen Klopp and his side with Sadio Mane and Mo Salah also picking up injuries during the worldwide break.

Liverpool, third in the English Premier League behind Manchester City and Chelsea on goal difference, are away to third-from-bottom Huddersfield Town this Saturday.

Earlier this week, Mohamed Salah was ruled out of Egypt's fixture with Swaziland with a muscle problem.
