Lyft Launches $299 Monthly 'All-Access' Plan

The program offers 30 "free" rides each month - take any more than that, and you'll have to pay for them, albeit with a 5 percent discount. If you don't use all of your rides in a month, any rides you didn't use will be forfeited and you'll start anew the next month. Subscribers will only face additional fees if a ride's cost exceeds $15, in which case the customer would pay the difference. At least not on a comparably wide scale, as Uber ride passes are still in testing and available to only a limited number of users each month, while the Lyft All-Access Plan is coming to "everyone in the United States by the end of the week".

The big picture: Lyft's new subscription plan is a solid value for frequent users although notably, unused rides don't roll over to the next month. "Americans who use the All-Access Plan for all of their personal vehicle needs can save up to 59%* per month compared to owning a auto".

Lyft's All-Access plan is priced at $299 per month. Starting today, passengers can subscribe to the plan. To get a sense for just that, we calculated a handful of shared $15 rides to Facebook's South Lake Union offices on Dexter Ave, the second most popular shared Lyft destination for Seattleites, behind Sea-Tac airport. Available to everyone in the U.S. by the end of the week, Lyft's All-Access Plan lets you plunk down a chunk of change each month for access to "free" rides.

Can Lyft convince stubborn Seattle commuters to ditch their cars?
