Lindsey Buckingham sues Fleetwood Mac for kicking him out

Fleetwood Mac are now including iconic songs from Neil Finn in their live shows

Buckingham notes that he and Fleetwood Mac had gotten together for rehearsals prior to their performance at the MusiCares tribute concert honoring the band's legacy and that "everything was great", though Azoff informed him that Nicks had a problem with a couple of Buckingham's antics from that night, including him getting upset at Fleetwood Mac being introduced while Nicks' "Rhiannon" was being played at the event.

Mick Fleetwood told Rolling Stone that there were factions within the band "that had lost their perspective" and said Buckingham left over an "impasse" about the amount of time he wanted to take off for solo work.

Later in the complaint, Buckingham said he had tried to contact bassist John McVie, "who responded that he had been instructed not to speak" to him.

Buckingham, 69, one of the most influential members of the British-American band behind hits like "Don't Stop" and 'Rhiannon, ' was dropped earlier this year from the tour line-up.

He was reportedly fired due to a scheduling conflict centred around a world tour, with the band replacing him for the live shows with Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and Crowded House leader Neil Finn.

Ironically, he phoned band manager Irving Azoff to ask if Nicks was leaving the band, only to discover he'd been fired. Fleetwood Mac has always been a creative evolution.

Buckingham claims he was told five days after the group appeared at Radio City Music Hall in January that the band would tour without him.

Buckingham included in the lawsuit a copy of an email he sent to Fleetwood in February, begging the band to overcome its differences. "We have all done things that were not constructive. I love you no matter what", he wrote.

"It wasn't about it being Rhiannon", said Buckingham, who wrote and sang numerous band's biggest hits. Buckingham claims the group had bristled at his request to push the start of the tour from August to November so he could promote a solo album, and so he put his personal plans on pause so he could make the tour happen.

A spokeswoman for Fleetwood Mac said: "It's impossible for the band to offer comment on a legal complaint they have not seen". It's fairly standard legal procedure to service the complaint to the parties involved, something that neither Mr. Buckingham nor his legal counsel have done.

"The irony is that we have this standing joke that Stevie, when she talks, goes on a long time", Buckingham said about the latter point.

According to court documents obtained by Radar Online and Us Weekly, Buckingham claims the firing cost him between $12 to $14million.
