Badgers unable to overcome Michigan defense, lose 38-13 in Ann Arbor

MI is a couple of hours away from kickoff in its major Big Ten showdown against Wisconsin.

The game was tied 7-7 in the second quarter on scoring runs by Higdon (2 yards) and Wisconsin's Kendric Pryor (33 yards) when Quinn Nordin kicked field goals of 42 and 33 yards to put the Wolverines on top 13-7 at the half.

MI held the ball for 7:24 on its first drive, but came up empty because of a missed field goal.

The Badgers (4-2, 2-1) tied the game at 7-7 with 11:26 until halftime on a 33-yard touchdown run by wideout Kendric Pryor on an end-around, but it was all MI after that.

Following the game, MI is still ranked No. 1 in the country in total defense, allowing just 230 yards per game.

MI pulled away in the second half as Patterson ran 7 yards for a TD, Nordin kicked a 35-yard field goal and Lavert Hill returned an interception for a score. The possibly pivotal drive was extended when the Badgers were called for roughing snapper Camaron Cheeseman on a punt.

Patterson was 14 of 21 for 124 yards and ran for a career-high 90 yards and a score on nine carries.

The Wolverines made life miserable all game for Wisconsin junior quarterback Alex Hornibrook, who finished 7-of-20 passing for 100 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Taylor had 19 carries for 132 yards in last year's 24-10 win over MI at home.

Quinn Nordin kicked field goals of 42 and 33 yards in the second quarter to give MI a 13-7 lead at halftime. The Wolverines are giving up a nation-low 134 yards passing a game.

Indiana, 5 1/2-point underdog at home to Iowa.

Wisconsin: The Badgers will have a hard time beating good teams if Hornibrook can't make them respect the pass.

Since dropping its opening game on the road to Notre Dame, which improved to 7-0 on Saturday, Michigan has won six in a row.
