Unai Emery to limit squad rotation as Arsenal prioritise Europa League

Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Ritchie have returned to Newcastle training to provide a timely boost for Rafa benitez

The German World Cup victor was left out the Gunners' 3-1 win over West Ham United last month, with reports claiming the pair were not seeing eye-to-eye.

Ramsey once again started in the No.10 position at St James' Park and had a solid game as a stunning Granit Xhaka free-kick and a cool finish from Mesut Ozil helped Arsenal to an important 2-1 victory over the Magpies.

Former England worldwide Alan Shearer told BBC Radio Five Live how Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira was the difference for his side, as he made a significant contribution to the Gunners' victory.

The Gunners won despite a disappointing first half where they were frustrated by Newcastle. Arsenal looked disjointed and at sea in the first half, but took control when Torreira came on.

Arsenal quickly suggested that they were not prepared to see out the remainder of the game by surging forward in search of a third, but Aubameyang could only fire wide of the far post after being picked out by Lacazette at the back post.

Lucas Torreira was brought on for Matteo Guendouzi for the start of the second half while Newcastle were forced into a change at the back with injured captain Jamaal Lascelles replaced by Clark. Every time he got the ball his first thought was 'Can I move it forward?' and there was so much more movement ahead of him where there wasn't in the first half.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright was also impressed with the Uruguayan star, who he claims must be played by Emery from the outset. Arsenal have the ability in the final third to hurt teams, but so far this season they've often been too cautious, or too slow, to get the ball moving forward.

Speaking after the clash, Emery admitted his side still had work to do despite their upturn in form.

He said: "We are improving".

"He knows what he wants and the team accepts that we have a good relationship".

'No, not really. I think it was a hard start for us in the first 20 minutes.
